Green chemistry, also known as sustainable chemistry or environmentally friendly chemistry, is a field of chemistry that focuses on designing and developing products, processes, and technologies that minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.
Last year, Tradebe Port of Barcelona carried out the construction of a barge with a capacity of 230m3 for liquid waste, without limitation as regards its FP, and 36m3 for solid waste. Trademar is a barge certified for the collection of MARPOL waste Annexes I, II, IV, V & VI.
As part of its daily activity, a vessel will generate a range of different wastes including those resulting from the cargo, domestic waste, wastewater and even oily mixtures.
Consequently, in the vanguard of the International Maritime Organization’s international efforts to protect the marine environment are measures such as the Marpol 73/78 Convention, seeking to minimize the environmental impact of waste materials and the degradation of the marine ecosystem.
