Flood Safety - How to Prepare and Stay Safe

Creation date

12/07/2019

Flood Safety is highly dependent on how prepared you are - know what to do before, during and after the flooding occurs.

When a major hurricane or other named storm threatens the United States, scientists and weather forecasters are hard at work, in conjunction with the federal government and local and state agencies, in order to warn and guide the public to help keep everyone prepared and safe.

"This year is projected to have a 40 percent chance of being a near-normal season and a 30 percent chance of being above normal", according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center’s 2019 hurricane season forecast

Stay Informed

Early warning Flood Safety information provides the best opportunity for both residents and businesses in the path of the storm to make good decisions and act quickly.  Stay informed during storms and listen to officials if evacuation is ordered.

Turn Around, Don't Drown!

If you are in an area where a flood warning is given, stay safe by seeking shelter and by all means do not attempt to drive through flood waters
